About Our Club
Rotary Club of Calgary East was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Calgary (downtown) under the initiative and guidance of Curly Galbraith, Jack Islley, and Larry Oughton.
From an original nucleus of 3 prospective members which met in December 1972, a charter group of 24 soon materialized and were officially recognized by District Governor Bill Dunbar in June 1973.
Rotary Club of Calgary East became the fifth club in the City of Calgary.
Our first major fundraising project was successful in allowing us to present $6,000 to support the Calgary Boys and Girls Club in our particular district. This was accomplished through ticket sales for professional entertainer, Tony Cole, a Canadian magician and hypnotist.
Our weekly meetings have an excellent variety of speakers to stretch our minds and expand our horizons.
Visitors to our meetings have been a constant source of encouragement and fellowship.
